Walking in Washington Park

Did you know that Portland's Washington Park Zoo was founded by a pharmacist? Dr. Richard Knight, an English pharmacist exhibited two grizzly bears by his downtown pharmacy in the mid-1880s. Yesterday, I decided to visit the Japanese Gardens and fell in love with Washington Park. Didn't end up going to the zoo, but made a pit stop to the international rose test gardens. Paid fare for the Japanese Gardens, however, would have preferred to go during the fall where the leaves turn colors.

Stumbled upon the Washington Park Festival for a nice surprise of great music, food, and people sitting on the lawn. The sights and smells were intoxicating and quite the overload. Best of all, everything is Free!!!
