Brrr... it's cold outside

A Break, finally.... It's been 6 months since I've actually had an actual vacation. Granted there has been 7+ years of summer breaks. Welcome to the real world. Now I can play with photoshop.

Artic Blast

Preparing for the Oregon Winter

The weather is getting pretty much miserable right now, or perhaps I'm just anticipating for that to happen. Frequent visits to Priceline.com for a trip that would entail a much warmer climate, but one week notice plus funds running low negate that option.

The Force

The mind is a powerful thing. It sets limits based on memory, fear, and the inner being. My own worse enemy is my own best friend.

Power Nap

It's probably a combination of inadequate sleep and anticipation for thanksgiving weekend, but man was it hard to stay awake today.

Hanging by a thread

A PICC line being placed in a patient in CCU. "No sweat", I'm thinking. Already have seen surgery. Then it happens. Blood pressure drops. Vision gets blurry. Nauseated. Dizzy.

I need to leave this room.

Captured in a few words

This Picture was taken at the Japanese Garden last summer. At the moment, H1N1 was only a distant memory, thought of as fear blown out of proportion by the media. In my third rotation at the compounding facility, a slow gradual increase of Tamiflu (Oseltamivir) were being requested by anxious parents with children of confirmed cases. Since liquid suspensions were being discontinued, it was up to selected pharmacies to meet the need of the patients. Apparently, in hindsight Ora-Sweet as a vehicle is not recommended due to its instability. Hmm.The weather is cold now. Absolutely chilly. This was one of the few days we took an opportunity to take the dog and kids out to play during the heat storm. Kuma is of a special kind, almost cat-like with some bear thrown in. Not many people have heard of shiba inu's, but when you meet encounter one, you will not forget.
How the beach is so relaxing. The gentle waves hitting the sand. Sunsets directly over the horizon. A prescription for those who are wound up. A contraindication for those who have sensitive skin.

Sleepless in Seattle

Se-at-tle

-noun
  1. A city of west-central Washington by Puget Sound. It is now an important commercial, transportation, and industrial , and a major port of entry. Population: 582,000
  2. The Emerald City, a gem to the Pac. Northwest. Home to the Space needle, Bank of America tower, Key West Arena, Safeco Field, and Seahawks stadium.

I had the great opportunity to visit this city for Erica's beautiful wedding. Though not too far from Portland, it was easy for this to be a getaway. Tourism. Rain. Coffee. "Perked up" Natives.

Slooow shutter speed

It's funny how when you look back in life, that certain inconvenience wasn't as hard as you though it was. So I guess I'll take it slow...For example, back in Corvallis, Monroe was "it". Everything was close by, you didn't need to walk that far, there just weren't any other possible options. Now living up in the greater Portland area (I know, always comparing...), it's almost required to drive 30+ minutes to gather with friends. What a refreshing night to get up and walk to places I never would have considered.

Let's Get Clinical

Who says you can't find beauty in your work place? While I did learn the skill of renal dose adjustment, warfarin protocol, and platelet/lovenox monitoring, it was "amazing" how there was just enough time to capture these pictures.
